I have friend who cleans pools and works out a lot so his hands are very dry and rough. Does anyone have a good recipe for a melt and pour scrub that would help him

In my limited experience, I love the oatmeal soap I make. Very very easy.....

I coarsely crush (in a coffee grinder) the quick oats (Quaker or any other store brand is fine too) you can leave it as much coarse or fine (depending on the level of scrubbiness you want). You can also use a grinder or mixer with the 'pulse' option.
Just take your MP white glycerin base and melt it per the instructions and once melted, mix the ground Oates and I use a drop or two of tea tree essential oil and pour it in the mold!!!!

I love how the oats feel in the shower! I make a separate Oatmeal soap (finely ground) for my two yr old since she was a baby and that helped her baby eczema too :) Good luck and let us know the final recipe you choose :). This might be an opportunity to learn something new as there are way more experienced PROs out here who I am sure might have more ideas!!!!!!

You could also make a nice conditioning soap and add pumice to it. I make a pumice scrub out of cream soap, M&P with glycerin aloe oil, and other goodies then add pumice to it. It's cleans mechanics & machinists hands but doesn't dry them out. I also sell alot of it to women for their feet.

Cornmeal also makes a good scrubbie.

Somewhere on the forum is a thread about a bartender's balm or salve which helped prevent and treat damage to the hands. A quick search with those keywords would lead you to it.

I use a good body butter morning and night plus a lotion bar during day.
