So last week I made my first batch of soap. I used BB Cold Water FO. 1.5oz for 2 pound batch. How the heck do I get the smell out of the silicone? I scrubbed and scrubbed. Right now its soaking in soapy hot water. Im ready to make another batch but a little apprehensive about using this mode with that FO still so strong. Any suggestions?

You can't ever get the smells completely out of a silicone mold but no need to worry, the scent won't transfer to your new batch.

My molds all smell like a hodge podge of different FO and my unscented batches come out unscented.

So I've been wasting my time? Great. Thank you.

Obsidian is right on the money. I did the same thing as you did. I scrubbed and kept trying new things to get the smell out.

Here's a tip that might help you later. You may get a white residue on your molds after you have removed the soap. If you don't clean them right away they can become permanent. I don't think they will hurt anything because I have some that are in the cracks of the mold and I can't remove them. If you will spray it with at least 50% rubbing alcohol right after you remove the soap, it will generally come off. You don't need to use 70,90 or 99% isopropyl alcohol unless you want to. The 50% will work just fine. Even though I don't think they will hurt anything, I still clean it off.
