When I make soap with rice bran and palm oil, after adding lye and blending it slightly, when I add the fragrance, the soap hardens within seconds. It doesn’t stay soft enough to pour into the mold properly, and when I unmold it, the soap doesn’t have a proper shape. I need help from an expert to guide me on how to keep my soap soft so that I can pour it properly into the mold and get a good soap when I unmold it.

Thanks

I am using random FO. Is there any method to solve the issue?
Unfortunately, not without knowing what you are using for fragrance, where you got it and how much you used... in addition to the full recipe with all measurements and additives.

There are many many possible reasons why you're having problems — without knowing exactly what you did, and exactly what you used, it's impossible to give advice.

I agree, and would add that the FO is always at the top of the list for causing soap acceleration. Some scent components such as eugenol will always cause acceleration. Oxidized or adulterated FOs/EOs can cause acceleration. Alcohol in the fragrance causes acceleration.

Considering that your batter was fine until you added it, that's most likely your answer. Try making a batch without it and see.

Yes. The method is to not use random FO. Use a reputable supplier. Use only fragrances that are for cold process/hot process soap making. Read reviews on the fragrances before buying. Search the forum or ask for help before using the supplier or fragrance before soaping.

It sounds like your fragrance oil (FO) might be causing the soap to seize. Some FOs, especially those with alcohol or certain components like eugenol, can speed up the process and harden the soap quickly. Try using a fragrance that’s specifically made for cold process soap and consider using less of it. You could also test making a batch without fragrance to see if that solves the issue. Make sure your oils and lye are at similar temperatures and try adding the fragrance after the soap has reached trace to avoid it hardening too fast.
