My soap has Acne! pro help needed!

I am soooo gutted. My best ever soap is pitted here is a pic:

My method for this was to soap at room temp, split, colour and then fragrance.

Thinking that this may be a problem with steric (I use 25% palm). I attempted again.
Second time I had a new palm (palm olein - which was recomended by another soaper and my supplier) i melted the container stired and and used what I needed. I soaped at room temp, added FO first (thinking perhaps i hadnt combined them enough) coloured and poored. i noticed the mix was a little lumpy, so i new i was going to have problems. I decided i didnt like the this palm oil and went back to my other palm
third attempt - I soaped this time at 110, and followed above process. I cut this morn and both batches are the same:

All are using the Honey Suckle Hallow fo, also I thought it might have been a TD issue, so I used loads less in the 2nd and 3rd (thats why they are not so white). No overheating either, I had to put in the oven to encourage gell.

Look how bad the spots are in the black!

I dont know what else to do. I always soap as I did in the first attempt, and I have no problems. All my recent bars posted in the photo gallery are from the same batch of palm.

Is this a FO issue?? Any advice on what it is and how to prevent it.

Thats a shame, but I do like the way it looks, think it needs 'Pro- active for the acne.'

Sorry, thats just my sense of humour. I can't help with a remedy, but could it be the FO .

Honeysuckle Hollow behaved well for me. I think you have a TD issue. How much did you use?

somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 a teaspoon for the white part, which would be around 500g of oil. The black part doesnt have any TD in it though.

I use TD in most of my batches (latest pics in photo gallery)

I have two fo that seem to promote some kind of weird soap patterns. Lemon Verbena (leaves white powdery spots) and this one. But the reviews for both are positive.

Im wondering if my recipe doesnt react well to these?

Would cocoa butter contribute I wonder, I add between 5 and 10% to most of my recipes

I don't know about the first pic but the 2nd one looks like a TD issue to me too.

The top one started out like the bottom, but not quite as bad.

There is no TD in the bottom layer of the 2nd, the black section is far worse than the TD section, Im almost positive its not TD.

ive had problems once with what I assume was TD, it was more of a crackle and much less ugly than this.

Sigh.....

This soaping session was a disaster - I also did a lavender batch in my first ever slab mold and I swirled it beautifully, only to realise I had left out my RB oil which consists of 20% of my recipe! So after experiencing my first ever Zap (I just had to try) I decided to rebatch and utilise the soap balls I had saved up from another disaster, just cut it and the bloody things havnt stuck!!

Just wish the Gremlins would leave me alone for a bit

On the upside, Im now going to shop for FO to replace the dreaded Honey Suckle Hollow - 3 strikes and that ones out! :wink:

I think it's the FO. The texture looks like ricing to me.

I just had a look at my Honeysuckle Hollow soap and even the top where I used the TD is fine and my notes don't comment on any problems with soaping. What oils did you use apart from Palm? I didn't have palm oil in my recipe by the way.

olive oil, Rice bran, palm, coconut oil, cocoa butter and castor.

Dont know about ricing, it was smooth when cut. Infact the FO performed so well in the first batch I thought it had slowed down trace.

Actually I've just looked at my soap ends, they are fine, as are the sides of my soap. I put all batches in the oven (its colder now and gell isnt happening like it used too) the first one did over heat 'cos it had small cracks in the top - I bet this is a heat thing :shock:

Mmmm, yes I'd go with over heating if you put them in the oven. Was the oven on or did you turn it off when you put the soap in?

I'd say your batch overheated. I did a charcoal soap a while back and it looked exactly the same.
