Today is the second anniversary of my dad's death.
I came up with a blend that smells very close to his complex smell, including cedar, sandalwood, star anise, black tea, and vanilla oak. I'm sure I'll never get it right ever, but it was first try and I feel good about it. My whole house smells like him today. It is a good use of the black tea fo that i've been so perplexed about.
I'm hoping it cures nicely, so can share it with all my siblings. I have my doubts, as I've never attempted to mix so many fo's before.....we'll see. I will post pics when I cut it.
Thanks for letting me share.

What a great way to have a rememberance. Scent is such a powerful link to memories and emotions. Such a nice thing to do and I'm sure your siblings will appreciate the effort and if it isn't perfect then you just have the chance to savor more memories as you try again. :)

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it a lot.
I guess the mix of oils sounds pretty awful, but right after pour, it smells pretty darn amazing. I used varying amounts of each scent, and didnt measure anything...not sure that I could ever repliclate it, but that's okay.

Sounds great. Lost both my parents and saved one of my mom's scarves in a bag for the longest time, hoping to preserve her scent. It's gone now and I wish I had their scent preserved somehow...

Thanks for sharing!

Awwww! I wish you luck in capturing that fragrance. I'm lucky all I have to do is open a bottle of old spice to reminisce about my handsome, well dressed dad. I miss both my parents.
