My first batch turned out great! I used CPOP and did it all last night before the graveyard shift! I've done a LOT of studying so I did feel comfortable making up a recipe. Here it is:
7.6 oz. CO
7.22 oz. PO
2.85 oz. Canola
1.33 oz. SAO
2.72 oz. NaOH
5.9 oz. H20
It never traced. I hand stirred for an hour and it never got quite to pudding. I eventually gave up and decided to stick it in the oven. I checked on it after an hour and when I did it was already fully gelled! I got a bit of the tiny bubbles on the surface, but it seems just fine. I zap tested this morning and it seems fine. I also checked with PH strips, but weird thing... The strip turned bright blue, and there isn't blue on the PH key. But the strips seemed discolored before hand anyway. The only other issue is that I didn't prepare a mold (I was so busy planning everything else and didn't realize I wasn't actually ready.) so I just poured it into a glass baking dish. I know, bad idea.... but I went for it. Any tips on removing soap from a glass dish?

You might put it in the freezer for a couple of hours, but I am afraid you are going to have to use a spatula to dig it out.

Wash it out?? LOL I will say dig it out with a spatula. The soap looks fine otherwise.

your lye mite a 1/2 oz high

put the glass in some hot water let sit should help get it out with co and po it should be hard enuff and my be drying , first 1 is always the hardest thats out of the way good luck

Cut it into bars while its in the dish then scoop out one. That 1st one may not come out pretty but it will help you get the rest out. Looks like it should turn out really creamy and moisterizing for you.

Kazmi, that is exactly what I did. That ugly bar got blended up with some vitamin E oil, a touch extra CO, and water to make shampoo that turned out nicely. Now I'm wondering... can I use some of my soap to make more laundry detergent? I already know how, just wondering if I can use plain soap that hasn't had much of a cure time. It is pretty moisturizing, I thought I got a little more of a lye discount than I intended. Would the extra oils have adverse affects on my laundry?

Hi Erica! Please...please...please. Don't use glass again. OK? ;-) Lye solutions will do bad things to glass and over time glass particles will be incorporated into the soap. Invest in a good mold to pour your soap batter in and life will be easier.

Sorry I hacen't made laundry <yet> so can't help you there  Glad that they turned out nice for you.

That looks better even than most of the cakes I bake!

If you superfatted the soap (I'm guessing you did but haven't checked your recipe to be sure), you may not
want to use it for laundry. The extra fat has to go somewhere, and that would be into your clothes, whereas
the goal of washing is to get the grease OUT, not in.

That's just me mouthing off my opinion but I use a 0% superfat for soap I'm going to grate for laundry use.
