Hi eveyone,

I just made by first batch of soap on Wednesday(12/14/11),it was lavender soap.It turned out pretty well and it was a hard bar of soap.I cut some of today(12/18/11) to try it out and wash my hands but I found it took a substantial amount of effort before it would lather well.I was just wondering whether this is because it has not fully cured yet or whether it is my recipe.

I made a 1lb of soap with the following:

4.8oz Olive Oil. 30%
4.oz                      Coconut Oil    25%
4 oz                      Palm Oil         25%
2.4 oz                   Shea Butter     15%
.8 oz                     Castor Oil        5%
2.25 oz                 Lye
6.10 oz                 Distilled Water

I am also finding hard to sell the lavender eo,I put in 3 teaspoons into the 1 lb of soap,is this too small or might it have to do with the particular eo itself..

Thank you in advance

Your recipe looks good to me. You have plenty of "lather oils" in there. I would not increase them at all.

Fragrance would depend on if you did HP or CP, so I can't answer that one for you now.

You probably just need more cure for the soap to be really nice.
I find my bars are very different after a good cure than they are two days after cutting.

Thank you both for the responses. It is cold process soap,so hoping the lather will improve with time

I think your lather will improve. :)

I use 1 oz of EO per pound of oils, mints and patch much less. I only do CP.

You should have a light scent. I use up to 1oz per pound of oil and a minimum of .5oz ppo. 3tsp in a tbs and 2tbs in an oz... correct if I am wrong!
