Hi to all!

I've gushed over all your beautiful soaps. So with some nervousness I'm posting a pic of my first batch ever - a crock pot HP soap made with lard, canola and corn oil. It is scented with peppermint essential oil and colored with ground parsley leaves (a tip I learned here!!). Thanks so much for all your wonderful posts and good cheer...and to Keith Brown for his youtube video as well.

Oh and a question: do you use the stick blender constantly while waiting for trace? My Proctor Silex (new one) says not to use for more than 1 minute at a time. I used it for a minute on and a minute off. It took over 20 mins to trace and I think my SB was starting to smell a bit. Or was it the lard?? :?

thanks for looking!

Really nice job!!!

I made a cp soap with lard over the weekend and while I didn't really notice any offputting smell, it did seem to take forever to trace.

I used my stickblender on and off, more on than off with this batch.
As I was getting tired of sbing I probably used it for 20 seconds at a time.

I bet your soap smell divine. BTW never worry about posting pictures here, the good, the bad, and the ugly. We enjoy them all. :)

Congratulations on your first batch , well done , it looks fantastic , I wish I could smell it :D
I use my SB in short bursts , like around the pot or a figure 8 and then I use my big old stainless steel spoon for awhile.

Great first batch! I use my stickblender in short pulses so it doesn't overheat. I'm still on my first blender after 3 years (though I do have a backup for when the inevitable happens  )

your soap looks lovely, and the best part is YOU GET TO USE THE 1ST BAR!

you have been bitten by the soaping bug! pretty soon all you can think of is planning for the next batch! LOL!

Congrats on your first batch. Only on my 3rd batch but planning lots more in my head. Got to figure out who all to give it to so I can keep making! Hubby already thinks we have enough for a year. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the advice on using the SB and the encouragement! It was so fun to make soap and I'm planning another batch real soon. I've definitely been bitten by the soapbug. :)
