Ok, my question regarding all of this is just speaking on the terms of EO's .... are you allowed to mention what EO's are good for? Like if you add lavender, we all know that is good for calming....are you allowed to mention that, or no? I never do, I'm just wondering.

*My understanding is* you can if you word it right, eg: Lavender Oil is traditionally used for calming the nerves and to get a good nights sleep ..

Being creative with words without making actual claims ;)

I see ...

ok, my next question is my bee soap, I make it for people with sensitive skin, and for people with psoriasis, because the raw honey helps soothe their condition. I say in my description that this soap can help relieve psoriasis and eczema ...I never say cure, treat, or anything of that sort...

and users have reported back to me that they can use it and it does seems to help....so, I assume this is ok to do.

I try to be very careful in how I word things too. But if I believe one of my soaps to really be beneficial to something in particular, (aromatherpy wise or something like that)....I'd like to be able to say so without feeling I'm doing something wrong.

Does that make sense?

And I also agree, a lot of the calims I've seen out there are crazy, and they have a way of making all of us soapers look bad. and that is not good.

I have a very good scientific explanation for how that weight loss soap can work.

Remember "Fight Club" ?

Lye heavy soap will saponify your fat cells after stripping away the skin ~ and voila ~ just rinse it away.................ROFL

Must get myself some of that

That sounds very logical to me.
Maybe I will change it to saying is mild enough to use on sensitive skin and skin prone to disorders such as eczema...

something along those lines??

The last thing I want is trouble.... lol

as long as your not making any claims about your soap it is not classed as a cosmetic. the moment you make beauty claims your home made soap becomes a cosmetic subject to FDA regulations. Soap without claims are not regulated by the same rules.

And as they then are regulated false claims can be prosecuted?

Soap is actually considered a cosmetic regardless of any claims in some countries - Australia and New Zealand being two ;)

OK OK>>> check the status in your own country!!! :)
