Ok, I tackled my first CP soap earlier in the weekend and it came out not too shabby :) I also did my first whipped rebatch, the jury is still out on that one, but I think it's gonna be ok :D

So I decided to do a couple more batches just to see if I could actually do this soap making thing without screwing it up more than once, and I had some questions that I figured could only be answered by trying it out and seeing what happened.

Below are the results :D

I've been reading the gel/no gel threads and wanted to see the difference myself so I whipped up a batch of soap, poured two small molds and let one gel and kept the other from gelling.

It was a cinnamon spice batch and here are the results.

I like the colors produced by no gel, but I'm also an extremely impatient person, so the fact that it needs to setup longer before unmolding and cutting is a downside for me, but hopefully I'll be able to get into a system soon where I always have something to cut and unmold and can be more patient while waiting for it to setup, or I'll just keep gelling lol

And this one was just for fun, a melon & cuc fragrance, gelled.

Those turned out nice...
The only difference I have ever noticed after a full cure with my gelled and non gelled soaps is the appearance. Otherwise they behave exactly the same.

That's what I've read, I just wanted to see the difference myself.

I really, really do like the appearance of the no gel but wow, the added wait time to unmold and cut LOL I just dunno if I have the patience for that

If you want it to harden up quicker, you can add some sodium lactate to your soap mix.

Very nice indeed! I think some soaps look better ungelled and some look better gelled.....it's all personal preference IMHO, so you go with what fits you best....maybe you can continue to gel half a batch and at least you will have some soap to unmould sooner
