How will it make other people very sick? I assume that if a person is affected by menthol they not use it and I believe @Todd Ziegler is intelligent to know how to properly list the ingredients.
I am allergic to mint and menthol. I didn’t know I’d react so severely to those things in soap - headache, dizziness and nausea. I also didn’t know I was allergic to spirulina So had no warning that it would give me a rash and make me itch all over - where ever the suds touched me.

I was just warning Todd that additives in soap have to be used in moderation and clearly labelled and even then people can have reactions to substances they didn’t know they were allergic to. There are hundreds of people selling soap in the US without ingredient lists on them.

Your skin is an organ and it is very sensitive. Todd mentioned in another thread that’s he was using some odd ingredients to make soap, I guess I was reacting to that thread as well.

My husband (who is from Alaska and now lives in Texas) loves the "cooling" effect of the menthol. The scent does not last long in soap, so I always mix it with some "minty" type scents. If sending that soap to families where there are women and men, I put a warning label on them, as that mint + menthol can cause some burning on female...anatomy.

I use menthol in soap as well - along with eucalyptus and rosemary, it smells like Vicks and that's the point for that particular soap. I did try a mango menthol soap, but I didn't get enough menthol in it. I'd like to tell you what I used for % because the Vicks dupe soap still smells great after 18 months, but I don't have my notes here. I do remember being nervous because it seemed like a lot, but it was less than the safety usage rate and I was following the advice of an experienced reputable soapmaker.
