After I made a CP 4 lb batch of soap, I cut them into bars, and then I cut the little soap horns off. Well, I looked around for my trusty Velveeta boxes and I couldn't find them.

"Necessity Being the Mother of Invention", I looked around and found a "The Republic of Tea" container. It's metal, 5 inches long and 2 1/2 inches across. I used my can opener to take the bottom off and wah-la! I had a tube. My can opener didn't even leave a sharp edge. It was just the right size I needed and it fit all of the melted cuttings perfectly! After letting the hot soap sit for 24 hours I pushed it out with my marble rolling pin (no handles) and I cut it into five 3/4 inch nice soaps and one fuggly soap which I then cut into quarters for samples.

It worked great! And the Apricot tea was good too.

scraps

how very clever! just bought a small crockpot at a yard sale. i've always wanted to do something with my scraps. would 4 oz liquid to 16 oz scraps be adequate? have you ever used aloe vera juice?

i would appreciate any advice.

goodness, depending on how dried out your soap is you will need between none and maybe a tablespoon of liquid if you can keep the lid on. you might want to dribble a bit more in as it "melts" down.

do a search on "rebatch" and you will find more info.

My scraps were very fresh so I did not add anything to them.

But I have had a bad rebatch experience where I added way too much water and then stirred the soap into an unusable mess!

I have a mini crockpot...never thought about using it for soap scraps.
