I purchased a bottle of Silver Mountain Water from Oregon Trails Soaps. I loved how it smelled in the bottle and got the chance to use it last night. I added the fragrance oil when I was just reaching light trace. I crossed my fingers hoping that it wouldn't accelerate. But it really behaved very nicely and I was able to do everything that I was wanting to do with my colors. And it REALLY does smell so GOOD in here!!!

I did not gel it so I am still waiting to cut. The color is creamier and lighter now.

And now that you've put it out into the universe that it's behaving well, you've jinxed it ;)

I look forward to seeing it cut.

Discoloring Update

I was able to cut the loaf into bars last night. It cut nice and smooth bars. There was a bit of gel in the center of a few of the bars. Probably from incessant peaking into the freezer.:shh: I left them to harden a bit and was going to put them up to cure today.

UHG!!! This morning the bars have discolored slightly, EXCEPT for that center bit on the ones that had a little gelling. I went back and checked to see if I had missed if the FO had vanilla in it and it doesn't. Quite interesting. They sure don't look as nice as when first cut but who knows what they will look like in a week or two. They still smell incredible

I really like them! I used this fragrance for the first time while making my "his & hers" soap duo. I found that the scent was kind of light so added a little more before pouring it into the mold. IT does smell real nice and is one of my favorites! Your design looks great!

Did you gel or not when you used it? Or get any discoloration?

The obvious answer to me is that if it didn't discolor in the center of the ones that had a little gel.......then just gel the next time I use it. Or use a color/design that it just wouldn't show.

I am going to add a pic in a bit.

The discoloration. Notice the center where it started to gel is not discolored. I put them up and will wait for a week or so, then check to see if there is anymore change.

Yes, I happened to gell this one on purpose. I really wanted the black and blue to pop. I see that where it did start to gell, its more vibrant. Next time I would insulate and try to gell it all the way. Thats just my humble opinion

PS~ I didnt get any discoloration but I sure am glad I spritzed the top with alcohol, because in the few little spots it didnt hit..... it ashed!

Sooo.....you used the same FO in a soap that is blue and black. Thats kind of funny! And I agree with you. I bet gelling it would solve the discoloring issue. I usually gel all my soaps and these molds work great for that. I was actually worried that even though I left the lid off that it would still be too insulated. I sprayed the top of this one with alcohol too. Did you cover yours and still got a bit of ash? I can tell that even with spraying I am going to have to clean some off of these later.
