melting containers

Can't find good stainless for melting pots. Everything I have read says stainless and Double boiler. Can I improvise and use cans. Aluminum and tin cans.

Coffee cans work well.

Several years ago, when I first got into candle making I bought a really nice stainless steel pot from Dollar General for only $8.00. I use it very effectively for several years. Still use it today in my soap making. I broke down about two years ago and purchased a huge 30 lb custom melting pot from Rite-Hete Corp. which was $600.00.

I personally like to use my pouring pitcher as a melting pot. It kinda kills two birds with one stone.

I found a nice size stainless steel bowl at WalMart for $4.97 just a few weeks ago.
