Been making basic herbal soaps with Ivory Snow for a few years now. I tried the melt and pour glycerin and shea butter bases. The soaps turned out great originally, but later many of them, especially the pure glycerin ones developed a white crusty crystal like crust on the surface of the soap. It doesn't seem to matter whether they are shrink wrapped or unwrapped. Others haven't developed this. Help! I can't find this problem listed anywhere. If it makes a difference, I live in Nevada in an extremely dry climate. Thanks for any info you can give! Craftyangelica

I have never heard of this. Tell us exactly what you added to the base & where you got the base. It might help us figure it out.

i live in Nevada too (las vegas exactly) and i havent had the issue with crystalization at all

at the time i was into M&P i was using exclusively SFIC soap, but its next to impossible to find now outside major bulk from the webstite

that is why i quit making M&P totally, until i can find a reasonably priced source for lower quantities, or wanna spend the money for the bulk stuff

what part of NV and where do you buy your soap base?
