For anyone thinking about setting up a web site...
I have been toying with it for a while now. I installed Wordpress and had a basic site sort of functioning... but it was VERY slow and clunky and it seemed like every time an update came out stuff would break.
I had a few days off recently and decided to refocus my efforts... and I discovered Mango Blog.
I have to say I LOVE it. It is basically the same kind of thing as Wordpress... but it is written in ColdFusion instead of PHP and I happen to be a ColdFusion developer. However I think it's safe to say that you don't really need to be familiar with CF to use this any more than you need to know PHP to use Wordpress.
Mango is a blogging tool at it's core but it makes it very easy to add any number of custom pages and plugins. The admin tool is very easy. And it is open source so it's FREE. It is not as well known as Wordpress but it is gaining steam and lots of CF developers are catching on and contributing new features and plugins.
You internet host must offer ColdFusion and either a SQL or MySQL database. The requirements and host suggestions etc can be found at the URL above.
I just wanted to put this out there for anyone who has had trouble getting started like I did or was frustrated with Wordpress like I was.
I'm not quite ready to go live with my site but once I do I will post it here.
