I need an unscented soap in a hurry, so I decided to HP my usual CP recipe this morning. It went well.

Here it is in pot, after 2 periods in oven (one 15 mins, then another 10 mins.) I forgot to take a pic of the first stir. There was a huge blob of what looked like white saponified soap in the middle, with a 2-inch edging of this brown gelled stuff. I stirred it all up, then put it back into the oven. After 10 mins more, it looked like this in the pot. I added one chai teabag into my lye/water to get this color. I wonder if it will stay?

and after glopping it into the mold (this is a half-batch, which is why I added a clamp onto the mold).

This log mold, which my DH made me 8 years ago, holds 10 pounds of soap, or 30 bars. This is half.

I suppose I could have cooked it one more time, but didn't want to chance overcooking it and getting dry chunks in the pot.

Cut pics tomorrow!

No comments? ...is that cuz you think this looks like a dog's breakfast?....I put this into my Blog, and will show the cut pics there instead of here, since nobody here seems interested :(

LOL! "Dog breakfast" I've never done HP, but it sounds interesting. I like your mold. Noticed you didn't line it. Is it coated with something? Have you cut your bars yet? I wanna see.

:? I am! I'd really like to see pics of your cut soapies...

hp in the oven? i do mine in crock, warm oils, add water/lye, cook. Its not as much messing around.

This wooden mold IS lined, with a rigid, bullet-proof plastic called lexan. You can see its edges if you look real carefully at the pic.

I should post the cut pics here.... not sure why they went into other post. Mind in a muddle that day? sorry, so here goes:

We 're interested we swear. I like the marbled look of the cut soap. I've not tried HP its on my list to try.

bullet-proof? Are there a great many people shooting at your soap in the mold? :D

Soap looks great!

Okay, this made me giggle. I may have to look into this Lexan. Do you just cut it to size and glue it to your sides? It doesn't leak?

No, no need to glue in the lexan. I just fit it in one side at a time around the mold, clockwise-like, and it fits snuggly.

If I glued it, how would I get the lexan out of the mold to wash it? I will have to take more pics for you.....

but you might get an idea of it on our soapmaker site.

Go here, and click on the drawing of the soap mold to expand it.

My HP soap attempts have all resulted in lumpy-looking bars, not pretty. Not with the marbled effect though. Might be due to the hard oils not completely melting....not sure.

HP just takes a little patience and some sugar to smooth it out while soaping full water. That should help any lumpiness.

That HP looks awesome!
