Hi everyone. I was looking at some soaps on etsy and the seller says that she makes them using her own handmade glycerin soap...is that possible, ? the soap looks clear..did i misunderstand completely and shes just melting and pouring from a block of glycerin or is it really possible to make your own?

It's possible to make clear soap.

Look for the book Transparent Soap.

I find it a hateful process, ripe for explosions, pot throwing and tantrums. But that's just me.

Can you post a link?

What a coincindence.
When I was in the store yesterday I was battleing with myself over buying alchohol for the production of clear soap.
The pragmatist in me says buy a good quality M&P base and save time and aggravation. But as usual the mad scientist in me won out and I am going to do my first batch of transparent soap tomorrow.
I'll let you know how it comes out.

Right, now i remember reading about this in Cavitch's book...good luck Jeremy. As for me, i will stick to just plain CP until i get it right. Im getting immensely frustrated with how little time i have to practice.
