I made up the lye water solution for a couple of batches of soap I was intending to make a couple of days ago. Something came up and I was unable to complete the project. Is it ok to use the lye water solution although it's over 2 days old or would you just scrap it and accept the waste?

was it closed? if not some of the water may have evaporated. weigh it and see. as long as nothing weird got in the container with it it should be fine, a lot of people masterbatch lye and keep it for months at a time.

It should be okay to use. There's certainly not going to be a problem with bacteria/mold in the solution, I know that for sure...

I had foil over it. I had thought about evaporation but hadn't considered weighing it to check for that. Thanks for the tips!

ACCCKKKKKKK!!!!!

Never never NEVER put aluminum anywhere near lye! In this case as long as they did not touch you seem to have got away with it, but when in contact they react very badly to each other!
