Ok I don't have a thermometer to check my lye temperatures, I know, I sometimes do things backwards--I know y'all probably saying this chick is out of her mind, well I am, Nuts for Soaps that is--anyways I mix up the lye with partial amount of water/aloe vera juice (that my recipe called for & of course I check it in soapcalc) to properly dissolve the lye and place the pitcher out on the back porch (in the outside air) to help in lowering the temperature.

How long should I let pitcher sit outside, approximately, before I incorporate the rest of my liquids and mix it with oils that I'm going to be using for my soap recipe?

*Note:I mix it up the lye/partial water&aloe vera juice (frozen cubes) solution at about 3:30 USA E.S.T.

I don't use a thermometer anymore.....I wait until the lye container is just warm to the back of my hand and then I mix with melted oils....unless I'm doing RTCP or CPHP.

I dont' use my thermometer either. If the oils bowl and lye bowl feel about the same temp to the touch I pour the lye solution in and off I go. I've never had problems caused by doing it this way.

:)

I have a Minnie me that goes in & out of fridge, with the quickness, to retrieve snacks, drinks and stuff.

@MikeInPdx: I plan on crockpothotpress recipe, that's why I ask :?: I'll go sneak in kitchen, while lil' one is occupied with Chowder on CartoonNetwork to mix up some soap...
