Ive had a few people ask me if I would show them how to make soap, these aren't people I know, just people who see me t the farmers market or at some event or another. & they say " & of course I would pay you ".
I don't mind sharing & or showing somone how to do it, but is there a liability issue? I mean my home owners or my RLI wouldn't cover me if for somereason they dumped Lye on themselves or somthing .
I could insist on being the only one to handle the lye & just let them watch.
I dunno

That's a big liability issue. If something happens to them while in your home they could sue you. Since you don't know them, I would pass.

No way, Jose! Everyone is so sue happy these days, you'd get sued for some idiot getting lye in a paper cut or something silly.

Tell them to learn online or read books.

What a sad commentary that you can't show people something you love to do because of the risk of suing, but I agree with everyone else. While there are many good people out there, it takes only one to rip you off or sue your pants off. And they are out there.

all of you are so right & thats exactly what I was thinking. I know Amanda teaches classes outside her home, I should ask her how she handles the Liabilty issue.

I wouldn't do it either. I have been asked a ton of times too and always say read this, that and the other book and we will talk again. No one has come back. So I guess it is to much work to read the books and says everything!!

I even have had people that I know ask for my recipes for lip balms and lotion bars. One in particular was miffed that I said try this or try that. She wanted MY recipe. She wasn't interested in spending hours and hours looking up information.
