lotions and lip balms

Does anyone ever put zinc oxide in their recipe for a sun block?

I have not yet but i have considered it... I know that you dont want to load the lotion with it... bu it has to be thick still enough to block the suns rays (or reflect them away from the body)...

cranberrylane sells a lotion bar kit with titianium in it, i don't know how much of everything the kit consists of, but maybe check with them.

and how much SPF would it provide? how do you calculate that?

and if you are selling you'll need a few hundred thousand to get it approved, but that's a horse of a different color.
