Do you prefer to add your scents to the lotion while making or do you prefer to make a base first and then add scents later on?

In the past, I have added fragrences into my recipe to come up with 100% of my total ingredients. But I am thinking of using more scents, just making a base and then adding different scents later on.

Has anyone ever created a base and had issues adding scents later on? Or is the process of adding a scent to base pretty easy?

Thanks :D

I add mine later.

You can scoop your desired quantity of lotion into a clean ziploc bag, smush it around with your desired fragrance, then snip off a corner and pipe it into your container.

Thank you both judymoody and Genny! Looks like I will have to try mixing in a plastic bag. I was just concerned about the scent not being properly distributed, but like I said, I will have to try.

I'll have to try that too. Sounds better than heating the lotion, adding the fragrance, using a funnel to pour into the bottles, waiting for them to cool and then capping.

Glad to hear this works great for everyone here :D

I have an additional question, since I am not adding the scent when creating the lotion to create 100%, should I add slightly more fragrence? Usually, I do about 1% or 2% fragrence depending on how strong it is. However, since I am adding after the fact, should I increase the amount I use? If so, by how much do you typically think?
