Hi everyone!

I am trying to make some lotion bars for winter ... I'm a tropical girl and the cold weather does not agree with me! This will be my first time doing this, so I was wondering how much you make at a time and how they keep. Also, what size is each bar you make? What's the best mould? Would you say that it is best to keep it unscented?

Lots of questions ;) Thanks in advance!

Hi @Chaiat5 - fun times ahead with Lotion Bars! I make them in either guest size soap molds like these or I like to make little ones and put 4 in a tin using hearts like the hearts in this set.
I make small batches, usually 3oz of each 1/3 - butter, oil, wax, but it’s easy to size up or down. 🌸

OMG!!! I have those bee moulds... they are SO CUTE!!! I can't wait to get started now!!! Thank you! I now need to exercise some restraint. I have a tendency to go all in LOL.

I like to put mine in mini deodorant containers (sometimes listed as large lip balm containers). They are typically the .35 oz size, and have a cap and twist up and down as needed to apply. This allows easy transport in a purse or backpack, plus clean application only it where it is needed, while keeping the product off fingertips and palms. No more greasy fingerprints on my computer keyboard. :)

I love this idea! So handy!

Another day, another rabbit hole...

I've been making lotion bars (the bee mold) and salves and just ran out of tins and can't figure out where I got the size! Small, deep tin jar, about 2 1/4" or a little bit bigger, and about 1 1/2" deep. Anybody?? I've looked on Amazon and Uline. Can't find em.

Ooohhhh that’s smart! Definitely borrowing this idea when I get there :)

Maybe this would work? Edited to add the link. https://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/4o-z-candle-tin-silver.aspx
No dimensions listed though and currently out of stock. Brambleberry also has tins.

I’m not sure which bee mold you are referring to, but I have used these with this mold.

I'm late to this party, so for what it's: worth. I use cake pop molds like this, https://www.michaels.com/product/pops-mold-by-celebrate-it-10103269 . I make 16 bars at a time, each is 31 grams. Scenting is a personal preference. If I use cocoa butter, I don't use scent since it has a good scent already. I like scent and so do my gift recipients. I have a real incompetent inventory guy BUT Mrs. Zing sources my tins. She buys a bazillion at a time from a vendor in Poland. I'm only on my second case of tins and have been at this for a long time.

How is it going? With the lotion bars?

Oh, thanks so much for this, @Zing!

My plant oils have JUST arrived ... and not a moment too soon because it's getting cold and dry here. It did take a while but I am so thankful because these aren't available in Pakistan where I am presently based. I took your advice and got the meadowfoam seed oil! I'll keep you posted!
