I don't recommend pouring directly into a tin for the reasons @KiwiMoose gave you. I have poured into a mold to then be stored in a tin and have also used the mini deodorant containers like @AliOop mentioned. The deodorant containers were given to me by a friend who abandoned a project she bought them for. I liked using those very much because I hate the feel of cream, lotion, oils on my palms. But, the lotion bars made by pouring into a mold are really cute. So - either way is good depending on your preference. I'm almost out of tins, so will be facing the same decision when it's time to reorder containers.

I bought something similar to what @AliOop used and they work out nicely

@Zing, have you ever added BTMS 25 to your lotion bars, especially one meant to be used in the shower(or close after)?

I prefer to roll it in my hands, and rub it on my legs/arms, so poured into a tin or jar is out for me. It's not a balm remember - so it's not soft enough to scoop out of a jar on your finger. You'd need to chip it out with a spoon or something.
Thanks, I was thinking I wanted to have them molded then noticed that Zing had his in tins, then I started doubting myself, then I saw the oval lotion/deodorant tubes and thought what a neat idea but didn't know if the hot mixture would work in the tube...or leak. I like the idea of them molded but will have to play around and see what my testers say. Too much work for my tired brain tonight!

I have a question for your folks that make lotion bars. I am going to make some but can't decide if I want to use molded ones or use jars/tins for them! Which way do you prefer to make them and why? I am anxious to get started so hope to hear your pros and cons! TIA!!

Also a special THANK YOU to ZING for helping me along this road! If it weren't for him complaining about his cracked hands I would have never started on the journey...it just took me a year to begin it LOL!
Because they are “bars,” they will be rubbed on so I make molded ones and people seem to like the, very much. If you pour them into a container, how would people “rub them on”? Maybe a cardboard container that allowed o e to push the bar up but little bars are far easier. We sell them in tins that fit in a purse, etc.

I bought 3 lbs. of beeswax from my friend who has an apiary. Made lotion bars with Jojoba oil & shea butter. Made another batch using Hempseed oil & shea butter. Just not that thrilled with the color of the beeswax. It's really yellow!

Quick question regarding using beeswax.
I've been playing with a recipe that's 70% cocoa butter, 1% vit e, 2% FO, 27% oil(combo of castor, Jojoba, fco, apricot kernal, sunflower. I've got meadowfoam, argan, and jojoba ester to try later). They feel really nice, set up great, absorb pretty quick, but, melt to the touch as expected(a little too readily). I swapped some of the cocoabutter for 5% cetyl alcohol and 15% beeswax. These are actually worse. They melt quicker and take way longer to absorb. What elsecould I do to hardenthe bar without a bunch more beeswax? Because I did not like that lingering long absorption time.
