Once again I went to my friends chocolate shop and they were taking the zest off of lemons, making juice, and preparing the rinds to make lemon rinds covered in chocolate. The whole prep room smelled off fresh lemons......omg, I LOVE that smell. So, I'm on my quest again to make a lemon soap. Does anyone know of a good lemon eo for cp soap? I made one batch with edible lemon eo that my friend with the chocolate shop uses in his truffles. It smelled great for about a week, but then started losing the scent. Now it's almost unnoticeable. I want to make a soap that smells like real fresh cut lemons or lemon peels (or close to it), and doesn't fade.

Thanks.

Anchoring any citrus with Litsea Cubeba will help it hold the scent.

may i suggest litsea cubeba-may chang e/o. www.libertynatural.com is an excellent source and it's cheap compared with a lot of e/o's.

i soap at 1 oz ppo @28% water and the scent holds true, sweet and strong well after a year. it's one of my favorites.

i almost get chest pains when i see how much e/o's have risen in the last few years!

I haven't used an actual lemon FO yet, but I have used lemongrass EO and it smells VERY lemony to me! I got mine from Saffire Blue and it throws a very strong lemon scent. (Though I find that it smells like Pledge? Do people really like lemon scents? I think I might feel like I am washing with cleaning products using this soap!)

lemongrass leaves something to be desired in soap-it always had a "musty" scent to me. i like may chang as it seems to have a more lemon-wedge/cologne scent.

a lot has to do with country of origin and the quality of the wholesale source, too.

My very best lemon is Lemon Dolce - It's a blend of Lemon, Ginger and Bergamot - with a little secret twist. It's my most favorite scent ever.

Definitely not like showering with pledge! At least I hope not! Gee thanks Ashley - now I'm going to be sniffing everything
