I add about an 1 oz or 2 depending on recipe of steric acid. My bars are really hard in days, but still easy to cut and seem to last for ages in the shower. It will speed up things a bit so if you have a fast fo or eo be careful. And I use a whisk gently not a SB.

Calico, I'm intrested to know if you ever get crumbly bars? Just wondering. I am currently experimenting with adding a little fine sea salt to all of my bars. I would like to find a way to cut down on the melting process when they are left damp....I can't seem to train my kids to keep them in a dry spot:(

I Love handmilled soap! They last forever, but they are hard to do (as in making them smooth)and it's even harder to cut up those pretty bars of CP or HP soaps to make handmilled bars. The whole process of handmilling those bars takes intirely too long for me or I would do it more often.

Nope I never have had a crumbly bar when I gel. I did a bit the first time with no-gel but it was a matter of just needing to leave it in the mold a bit longer than normal. They cut easily and smooth .

I have been telling people that if they dont have a soap dish , to up end their nail brush ans sitthe soap on that.....That was it drains and aires....so stays hard
