I was experimenting with a basic recipe for lip gloss. I just used petrolium jelly and kool aid powder. What I did was melted the jelly and added the powder mix and mixed. But when the jelly thickened, it still seemed pretty grainy from the kool aid mix. Has anyone messed around with this kind of lip gloss? If so, is it normal for it to be so grainy?

its probably as a result of the sugar solidifiying from the kool-aid powder (which we all know contains quite a bit of sugar)...

I just went out and bought an envelope out of curiosity.

I found no sugar, but it is grainy stuff. I'm sure that it will disolve very nicely in water, but not in oil. It was made for water.

I'll some more experimenting with this just for fun. But I would suggest using an oil based flavor. I know that many stores carry it in the baking section.

I made some lip gloss w/petroleum jelly, crisco, chocolate chips and honey. I used some of that flavored oil in the teeny tiny jar. It turned out pretty nice. I still like my Lancome juicy tubes best, tho.
