Made lip balm for the first time and followed a recipe on soap queen with infused marigold petals. Turned out great, made 30, have 12 or so left after neighbors, friends, kids.

That's great! Does it smell like the flower? Did you scent it with something else?

Buttercreme but I used a local beeswax and so is smells a lot like honey.

Nice! I've made it once so far and the stevia didn't dissolve right so I have gritty lip balm (aka trash). Will try it again some day. Glad your first try went better than mine!

Amy - I have made it with stevia before and it doesn't exactly dissolve. I don't think it's oil soluble...? but I used such a small amount that it wasn't gritty, and you could still taste the sweetness.

I make mine with stevia, too, and with no grittiness. You have to play around with the usage rate at first to get it right, but it's very do-able to get the sweet without the grits.

Our local heath food store sells liquid stevia. Having never made lip balm before I dont know if this would work, but might be worth a try?

Liquid Stevia works, that's what I use in my lip balm.

Oh gosh, I've been dying to try lip balm.
Thanks for mentioning the soap queen tut, Ken, I forgot all about her. I've been looking for a basic recipe to try for a while now!

Ohhhh, a nice local beeswax would make a big difference. I can imagine that extra honeyness.
