First off, hello everyone. I've been reading this forum for a while and think you're all really wonderful and super helpful.

So... maybe you can help me with a problem? I'm working on my lip balm recipe and have come up with a formula that has the texture I want, but no matter what I do, the balm doesn't really stick to the mechanism inside the lip balm tube. Meaning, if I use the screw bottom to push the balm up and then screw it down again, it gets stuck and I have to manually push the balm down.

Is this really an issue that can be solved just by increasing my ratio of wax/hard butters:soft oils?

My current recipe is:
2 tsp. candelilla wax
1 tsp. mango butter
6 tsp. jojoba/almond oil
1/2 tsp. flavor oil
1/8 tsp. vitamin E

My tubes are from MMS.

Thanks for any help!

If these are being sold or given as gifts not screwing them back down is probably not an option. Slightly increase your wax, your finished product is just not quite hard enough.

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm a lip balm addict and I always have been. I buy (or make) a balm, twist it up a bit to use, then put the cap back on. Why would you have to twist them up and down?

 Cause most store bought lip balms do; so that's what most people would expect? See your point though.

I'm with Carolyn; but when this doesn't work, maybe you could try out another supplier of lip balm tubes?

My husband keeps his in his pocket, and as he moves throughout the day it will twist up and when he takes it out to use it and takes the cap off, he needs to twist it back down, so I can see the need.

thanks everyone. i appreciate the input. i guess i'll just have to increase the wax content because i plan on selling these eventually.

:)

i don't care too much myself, but i thought i'd inquire because one of my friends testing basically said, everything's great but your tube is sh*t.
