I bought these really cute novelty containers for lip balms. They are very popular with my customers.

I poured a batch of lip balm into some of them but now I do not like the texture of the lip balm. I have cleaned them out & even boiled them! I can't get the thin film of wax off them.

They were never used; just lip balm poured into them.

Any ideas to make them like new?

Have I ruined them?

If you could provide us with a picture or a link so we can see what they are made of and shaped like, it would be enormously helpful. It would also help to know what was in the lip balm, so we know what the film is.

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess the balm contains beeswax. Here is what I do to clean balm making equipment that has had beeswax in it: I empty it out as much as possible, heat it up to soften the balm, wipe with a paper towel, wash with 100% CO dish paste, rinse well, then run through the dishwasher. Works every time.
