Ive been using bio oil. I recently read an article that says it has harmful chemicals in it. Does anybody make their own bio oil type product?

I'm not really familiar with Bio-Oil, but after looking up the ingredients I'm not sure what is being considered harmful in it.

But if you're interested in making your own oil, I bet we can help you.

What were you using the oil for?

This is just one of the many articles on bio oil and why it isnt good for the skin. I make my own skin care to avoid as many chemicals as I can. My skin gets very dry. I think its an Australian woman thing. I like to put a light oil on all over after a shower and when that has absorbed to moisturise. I also have hyperpigmentation which bio oil is meant to lessen but hasnt. I would certainly appreciate and help in coming up with a light but nutritious oil for my face and body.

Just to let you know, it appears after looking at many of his other articles, that the writer of the article is associated with Arbonne.
So, he has an agenda behind his article.

But, if you're looking to make your own. First, is the hyperpigmentation caused by not enough proper sunscreen use? Hormones? Or insulin issues? A lot of hyperpigmentation can't really be "helped" until it's cause is found. (Learned all this from my daughter's doc) She also said not to use chemical peels, because all it really does is discolor the hyperpigmented areas.

Rose Hip Oil is known to help with hyperpigmentation and dry skin. Plus it's a light oil, so it absrbs easily into the skin. It can get quite pricey though.

I've heard that sodium lactate, glycolic acid, vitamin e, lactic acid & licorice extract help.

Other oils that are light oils, but not necessarily useful in helping hyperpigmentation, are Fractionated Coconut Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Watermelon Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil and Sea Buckthorne Oil.

I just wanted to say quick that I have not used any of these oils for combatting hyperpigmentation. My 5 yr old daughter was born with the opposite problem, she has non-segmental vitiligo.
