I've refined my process in making goats milk soap thanks to all of you-I thought I'd share a photo of my latest. Refrigerated to prevent gell, it turned out well although I thought it smelled off when I cut it. Several hours later, it smells just as it should, like lavender!

Thanks for the comments! I just sprinkled the buds on and hand pressed them in. I don't know if they're going to turn color, I hope not.

very nice! love lavendar soaps! did you wait awhile to sprinkle your lavendar on top? was your soap a medium trace so they didn't sink down at all?

I waited until it firmed up after I poured, just a few minutes. Then sprinkled the buds on and pressed them into just the top - that way if they do turn a funky color then I'd just cut the top off. I seem to get a lot of ash on my soaps so maybe this will disguise it!

very lovely soaps!

the lavender buds look splendid! :D

if i may ask-with gelling in the fridge, how long did you have to wait before cutting into bars?

sometimes my soap seems to take forever before they are hard enough to cut!

Heartsong-I left it in the fridge for about 4 hours then overnight on the counter. Unmolded it in the a.m. and it seemed pretty hard so I cut it just within 24 hours. I've done 3 goats milk batches and this by far is the nicest. Thank you all for the nice comments!

Absolutely beautiful soap, I love it. I make a lot of lavender soap, I love it but yours is really pale and creamy looking, well done!

Janice, do you put the soap in the fridge right after you pour? I love the color of the bars and the lavender on top. Nice:)

Mom2tyler, yes after I poured and placed the lavender buds then right into the fridge - a few minutes later I realized the bottom was going to be hotter than the top and sides so I lifted it and put a short rack under it. I figured it would keep it more uniformly cool. I left it in the fridge for about 4 hours then removed it.
Thanks for the nice comment!
