So, I made some lavender bath salts about a month ago and used lavender flowers as well as EO. Now when I used it today, it smelled lovely but the lavender flowers didn't look very nice, they where brown giving the impression of rat poo floating on the top of my bath water! Now I know this happens to lavender when used in soap but I didn't expect it to happen when used in bath salts. Is this inevitable or is it because I used too much oil perhaps? It was a little bit clumpy, so maybe. Anyone have any experience of this? I'm planning on making a rose petal one too, can I expect the same to happen?

I don't have the exact recipe, its at work but as far as I can remember, dead sea salts, lavender and ylang ylang eo's, glycerine, bicarb of soda, corn starch and maybe some kind of oil (castor oil perhaps). Like I say, I feel like I over did it with the wet ingredients because it was clumpy, so maybe thats the reason, but I'm just guessing?
