Saw a tutorial on YouTube, and thought I'd try it.
Sadly, the FO accelerated and I didn't get the swirl I was hoping for.

This is my 8th batch of soap. The soap here is 48hrs old. (I'm hoping the white cures to a more consistent white)

Although the swirl didn't work, I am half happy with how it does look, even if it's globby. And it smells really pretty... for Lavender! I'm not a Lavender person, it reminds me of old ladies at Bingo!

I think it looks great, and I really love the swirl on top.

Pretty color combo. Ya know, I keep trying to like lavender but don't. When questioned about what scent soap they would like to try a lot of ladies say lavender but when they smell the real deal they don't like it. Tried to make it better by adding vanilla but then you get brown soap. Did you use an FO or EO? I'm getting a little bit of a better reaction with the Tassi Lavender but to me it's still meh.

Thanks Tash & PC :)

PC, it's an FO. I'm amazed actually, it really is quite pretty. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe I should go start playing Bingo now... :p

Hmm...will have to give it a whirl, that combo didn't occur to me. Thank goodness I have so many EOs laying around.

Dotty, stay out of the lavender and bingo crowd for as long as possible.

You know what, I never even thought about this, but... I HP'd Lavender Vanilla FO from NG and it didn't discolor for me. If it did, it would have been very slight because I never noticed it. I colored it with a light amount of Grape pop mica and it stayed purple. It's over a year old now, I just gave away the last bar to my grandma. Lovely scent!

ETA: wanted to add the link for it. http://www.naturesgardencandles.com/can ... e-Oil.html

You're learning ;) Gotta step back and see the soap for what it is, not just what you wanted it to be. Usually what it is, is a fantastic soap, and I think it is here too.

I don't like lavender either. I did use it in my pine tar soap and it gave it a really nice smokey lavender smell that I like though. Won't use it anywhere else if I can help it lol

Wonder if it didn't D because it was HPed? The one I tried was Peaks, smelled like laundry detergent and went brown. I tried it 2 more times blending lavender EO with vanilla FO with no good result. I will try NG's next time I order. Thanks for the recommendation.

Amy, did you order your pine tar online? I haven't come across it anywhere.

Sorry for the multiple hijacks of your thread, D.

Local feed/ranch store. They had to special order it because I'm in a city and they cater more to city folk wanting to look like cowboys than real cowboys, but they at least knew what I wanted. I made sure to explain I did not want the hoof treatment, I needed the real pine tar.

hmmm...that sounds lovely!

I love this soap...it looks modern. I really like the color scheme but then I am partial to anything with purple in it. Great job!
