I make handmade soap in Kyoto, Japan.
Sometimes it is more difficult than in the west... Sometimes it is easier.
For example, essential oils are crazy expensive here in Japan. 2000yen ( about 20$) for 10ml of Orange Oil. 1ml of Rose Absolute costs over $200.
On the bright side... I can buy pharmaceutical grade NaOH at any drugstore for for around 10$ a Kg. Likewise, rice bran oil is plentiful and so is bamboo charcoal and other more esoteric additives like silk worm cocoons.
I hope we can share together from all sides of the world
