Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your advice.

I'm making my first foray into cold press soap making, actually any find of soap making, and I want to make my first patch with Christmas in mind (for my mother).

Her favorite scent in the world is Jasmine. I'm sure everyone here knows the cost of that EO so it is out of the question. Does anyone here have experience using a Jasmine FO, and if so, from what company? I have loads of EOs for aromatherapy but I've never touched FOs so I have no idea where to get them.

EDIT: Just made an order through WSP, hopefully their Jasmine is good. If not I need splurge on a couple of other FOs to play with later.

WSP free shipping was worth it enough. The local suppliers and really the ones in Canada in general seem to be more expensive.

Thanks for the warning. Me thinks this will probably just be a simple colour, no attempt at swirling or maybe uncoloured all together.

Why does Mom have to like an antsy oil?

I'll probably try brambleberry next time in any case. Have to try all sorts of oils from different suppliers before I settle on any one place.

It'll probably be more beige. The base is probably going to be olive oil (pomace grade) and coconut oil. Easily available, and affordable in my area.

She's mommy in any case so she has to like it.

Thanks again.

Edit: One person who is getting no soap from me is my neighbour. I should not hear her "music" over my TV! Grrr.

welcome :)

be sure to check out different recipes and suggestions here on the site. some say not to use over 30% coconut oil, as it is too cleansing. also check out and do some research on how much olive oil to do, as too much olive oil will make a bar that you'll have to cure longer to avoid a slimy bar. think about adding a bit of castor oil, as well (4-5%), as it will give you nice bubbles without having to do too much CO

:)

have fun making soap :D

Thanks for the tips and welcome. There are other oils in the recipe I'm hoping to try. I don't mind if it fails completely, I can't expect a first try to work brilliantly or even at all.

Oh good, less than 30% coconut.

Ooh it also has castor oil. This is probably a good sign.
