Hi there
I just did a batch of basic soap
6oz (15%) lard
6oz (15%) Mango Butter
28oz (70%) Olive oil
with some lime essential oil too. I used 1oz of that

It saponified a little slow, but the temp of both lye and oils were low so I wasn't worried (about 40ºc) and I used the cp/hp method where you put it in the oven at approx 50ºc for 3 hours and left it over night. It all seemed fine and there was nothing I was unduly concerned about, I cut into chunks and left it on a wire rack to air. However I've just gone to it and there seems to be minor (very minor) moisture coming from it. I probably wouldn't be worried but I've read on here that might not be a brilliant thing. Would I be be able to leave it a few weeks longer and see how it goes or is this something for a definite rebatch.
I didn't account for the Lime EO in the lye calculator.

Also, would I be right in assuming when I follow this recipe http://bit.ly/Ph6KTE (which is ace) were I not to put the final mix in the oven but just cover it with a towel or something for approx 18 hours or so then it would still harden but the curing would take several weeks longer.

I agree with DragonQueenHHP I would wait and see what it does as often these oils will reabsorb the recipe looks nice I have just bought a fresh block of tallow to soap with :0). Yes if you had left the soap to gel under a towel it would be several weeks before the soap is truely ready to use, 4 weeks is a good timeframe for gelled soaps I tell people it is like wine the longer you leave it the better it gets

As soon as a soap has fully gelled then cooled and cut you can use it if you can't stand the wait. Don't judge it yet that is what the curing time is for and it's very important. If you try to shower with it you might end up using the whole bar because it hasn't cured.

A little weeping is ok and some times caused when cutting when still a little warm. It may leave little bumps but these will wash off as the soap is used. Also some oils seem to seep more that others

Your soap looks a little sunken there in the middle. It looks like you used the right amount of water so I'm not sure what happen but if you mound it up before putting it to bed that should help. Thats what I do with my hot process so I don't get the "shrunken Head" thing.

good luck

I had this happen not to long ago, and it look exactlly like yours. I have made my Oameal, cream, and honey recipe many times with the same results each time. But, I was in a hurry this one time and I didn't let my temps cool enough and it looked just like yours with the mush in the middle. I CP with mixing oils and lyes under 90F degrees, and that time I didn't. It's was a partial gel.

I tried cooking mine in the oven again and that did nothing also I waited for 2 months and that did nothing. I would make sure the temps were right. I hate when this happens to me because then you have to track down the mistery of what happened or went wrong. When this happened to me I was off by 5 degrees. Darn.....

Looks like partial gel to me too. Or a really thick layer of ash. I wouldn't worry about the weeping so much. As long as the soap doesn't zap and it isnt copious amounts (like my recent pumpkin soap experience, sigh) you should be fine.
