I unmolded my first ever batch of soap and it is a bit oily, I thougt I had done everything right but now I'm not sure since it's ozing oil. I made it yesterday and I sliced it this morning and i did the zap test(I know, to early) and it was fine. Is my first soap ruined or could it absorb the oil or?
I am so discouraged, that's a word right?
Well I hope I have better luck next time.

It could reabsorb it with time. I wouldn't throw it away, I would wait and see what it does. I notice that mine sometimes are still "wet" the next day but then the day after they are fine.

If I put them in the freezer or fridge, they stay "wet" for about 2 days and then are fine.

Pictures :)

Yep , just let it set a spell and see what happens , lots of times soap will surprise the heck out of you in a good way :D

to the experts, is there a time limit as to how long you have to rebatch?

that could be an option if it doesn't reabsorb the oil, or if you're worried about lye pockets.

btw, maria, what was your recipe and lye amounts?

I used liquid lye solution 30% and I mesure in grams. My recipe was

25% coconut oil
25% palm oil
25% olive oil
10% canola oil
10% sunflower oil
5% castor oil

5% jojoba oil to superfat

465 grams 30 % lye solution that is 139,5 gr. lye and 325,5 gr. water

Pictures are on the way...

Thank you guys, hope you are right and they will be ok in the next few days,
I forgot to mention that the recipe was a total of 1 kg with 50 gram of superfat.

they look AWESOME! what is the stuff scattered throughout?

is it just a thin coating, do they seem to be precipitating oil?

they don't look oily in the picture.

i'm jealous! they look awesome :)

Thank you, yes it is just a thin layer with a few oily drops, maybe from air pockets.

Thay look lovely, fantastic for a first try, the oil will absorb, you will be amazed at what time can do, give it a few weeks, hard I know when you want to try it.

Did you use an FO? I had one batch that sayed oily for two weeks and I realized I had added more FO than I should have. I rebatched it with a handful of scraps, and it was fine.

A lot of times, soap will look a bit 'wet' for a few days, but should dry out nicely in the end. Your soap is beautiful! I hope it turns out for you.
