Hi - my name is Niki and I am a SAHM in Alaska. Adventuring in soap making for self sustainability and hopefully once I've mastered it and become comfortable with my creations possibly branching out into a home business. Any suggestions and helpful info is always appreciated.

thanks for the warm welcome - should I also mention that I try to avoid using lard and only vegetable oils. Are there other people out there that also just use vegetable oils?

Im soo new to this although I do have a great recipe to share. I'm trying to go over posts and its a bit intimidating!

Hello and welcome from Australia Niki!

I found that reading all the old threads will be confusing at first, then it all begins to make sense and you learn things you didn't even know you needed to! Enjoy the forum.

Tanya :)

BTW - what is a SAHM please?

SAHM = Stay at home mom :D

Thanks for the support - it is a bit overwhelming! I am horrible at math but I figure if I really start taking the time to get into this then it will all even out again hopefully soon!

I am also curious as to where everyone gets their oils? I live in a small town in Alaska and although I have access to some stuff its ridiculously expensive for coconut oils, castor oils, essential oils, etc. I would prefer organic but does anyone have any idea of web links to online resources for ordering oils? I know shipping will kill me but trial and error I suppose!

nice to meet you guys!
