Hello I'm Nicole and I have been a crafter for over 15 years. I'm into knitting as my username implies I like to make toys or amigurimi's.I'm also into beading, and crochet, gardening, nutrition, health and fitness. I have done candle making before and have wanted to do soap making too. I've read some books from the local library on soap making and I've seen some melt and pour soap bases at AC Moore's and Michal's would those be a good place to start out?

Welcome Nicole

I'm not in the US so can't help you out with those shops, but a melt and pour base would be the easiest way to start your soap making adventure.

Hello and Welcome to the forum!
Many people start out with Melt and Pour, that's how I got started. Then the addiction got me and I was sucked into the world of soap making. As addictions go it's not such a bad one. :D

Welcome to the forum. I'm a crocheter as well, and I dabble in knitting and I made candles for years. I started out with melt and pour soap. It's a good way to get into soap making, but I have to say that the melt and pour bases in stores like Michaels, hobby lobby, Joann, etc. are awful. I've tried the ones at Michaels & Joanns and they were very drying.

There are some great melt and pour base suppliers. I'm not sure where you live but you might have some success at finding some locally by going to

Otherwise, here's some good, reputable suppliers: In parenthesis, I put their initials or what we usually call them in forums.

Those are the only ones that I can think of off hand. I've ordered from bases from all of them in the past & have my 3 favorites at the top.
