I was going to tag onto the other thread re: insurance, but my question is different.

Recently I made the executive decision to eliminate the skin care products I started with (found something so superior, could not compete) so now I'm just doing M&P soap, lip balm, maybe a lotion bar. Since I don't "cook" CP soap in my house, and my product insurance policy is up for renewal, I'm wondering about spending the nearly $600 for this liability with only M&P soap. What product liablility can there be, really? I've never heard of someone suing over a bar of soap...but I suppose anything is possible.

If you do only M&P or soap mostly....what do you do? What should I be thinking of?

Even with MP soap or products made from bases you need liability insurance. You are taking the base and you are creating the soap or lotion or whatever and it is you who would be sued not your supplier....

It's really a matter of Business, not soap.

Any business needs to be properly insured.

I agree 100%. I have not started selling to the public yet, but I certainly will get insurance before I start. We live in such a litigous society, people will sue you for getting a papercut from your label. It's not worth the risk.

Some markets/shows (like our Farmer's Market) will not allow you to participate unless you're insured.
