How important is insulation? All the recipes I have say to insulate and today I made my first batch and fully intended to insulate but due to distractions whilst soap making (next time I will switch off the phone and lock the door!) I completely forgot to insulate till about 2 hours after, at which point I thought why bother. I used an individual mould (single soaps) so they felt as though they had already cooled quite a bit, so I didn't see the point. I'm now wondering what the consequences will be though. What will happen to my soap?

It should be fine. The only reason to insulate is to try to ensure that the soap will gel. Gelling is personal preference, it is not required to become a great soap. It just means that if a soap doesn't gel, it may take a few extra days to finish saponifying, and be hard enough to unmold and cut.

Thanks Vanessa thats a relief. As they are single soaps already the cutting isn't an issue for me, so I guess if they do turn out ok, then theres no real need for me to insulate in future, heres hoping :)
