I would like to make some homemade lotion just to try it out but I am at a loss as where to start. I have several lotion ingredients but I do not know how much of each to put in.
I have:
Apricot Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Steric Acid
E-wax
Xanthum gum
Liquid Germall Plus
Cocoa Butter
glycerin
tons of different herbs
Rose floral water
witch hazel
bees wax
honey quat
cyclomethicone

I have been dying to try my hand at this but I am at a total loss as how much of each or what is needed. I have several recipes but I dont have the ingredients listed and I dont know what to switch out for what.
This would NOT be to sell, but I still want a preservative because I want it to last a while and my little girl will use it and I do not want her to be absorbing germies.

Do I have the correct ingredients to make a lotion? TYIA

Thanks SO much Lindy. THAT is what I was looking for, the percentages. But...I ran to the store today to get distilled water, looked at the label underneath that said distilled and ran to the cash register, checked out, was putting it in the car and my husband says..."this isn't distilled, did you want distilled?" We were rushing so I could not go back in and get distilled. Can I use this and boil it or something or does the germall take care of that?

You're both welcome - go ahead and just boil it, it will be fine. The biggest thing you're looking for is a water without a lot of clorine, flouride or other ickies in it.

Thank you Earthchild, I have seen that website before but I lost the link. It is so informative. Thank you so much!

YEAH! I did it!!! And this stuff looks AMAZING!

My recipe was

For 16 oz.

Oils- Percent Ounces
cocoa butter 10% 1.6
hot six oil 14.8 2.368

E-wax 10.% 1.6

Germal .5% .08

Water 64.7 10.352

with 1 tsp of honey quat added.

It looks luscious, I scented it with Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Sweet Orange, Tangerine and a tad bit of Rosemary EO.

The hot 6 oill I got at Walgreens, it has Olive, Canola, Wheat germ, Sweet Almond, Safflower, Castor, Sesame Oils and Vitamins E, A, and D.
It also has cyclomethicone, sheep sorrell, yarrow, slippery elm bark, sage, henna, comfrey, burdock root, gingseng, golden seal, cherry bark, black walnut, chamomile, alfalfa, hyssop, and wheat germ.
This cost me a whole dollar for 8 oz.

Thanks for your help Lindy!
:D :D :D

Oh Lindy, it is wonderful and it worked out so good using your recipe. It is not greasy at all, it is just smooth I also see how I can modify this to my taste. The oil that I used has a bit of its own fragrance so it is messing up the essential oils a bit but it still smells nice.
