When labeling soaps with ingredients and you use micas and oxides, etc for coloring, do you include that in your labels? There are so many people with allergies, so when I give my soaps away, I want to make sure people know what they are getting.

Thanks!!!

I think all that is required is the word *coloring*. Like with flavor oil, they may contain all sorts of alcohols & petrols, etc, but only *flavoring* is required. You certainly could be more specific if you want to.

If you are labeling with ingredients you need to use the INCI designation for each ingredient, including your colorants. you can do a search but it's probably easiest to get the info from your suppliers.

"fragrance" and "flavor" are exempt from this because the formulas are considered proprietary and because the lobbyists are particularly effective, but colorants are not.

Thank you carebear! I thought color fit into the proprietary catagory too. There is always more to learn...

So you do need to add that it is a mica/INCI des? It just seems like off the top of my, that when you see soaps for sale, they typically do not have the colorants listed. Again, this is just off the top of my head, and not noting specifics.
