Hi!

I have recently acquired a good batch of aromatic resins, such as frankincense, benzoin resin, tolu balsam etc. Got really inspired with an idea to implement those magnificent scents in my lye-based soap crafting. Internet offers a process to infuse grinded resin into base oil through heated bath method. Now I would like to infuse it with shea butter, my favourite superfat. Is it a viable idea or I better stick with neutral base oils?

Thanks!

I have collected some pine resin and infused it in olive oil. When calculating the recipe in the lye calculator, should I measure the olive oil before I add the resin or after? Will a big glob of pine resin melted into the olive oil affect the hardness or other properties of the soap?
