Can you make a nice bar of soap from just olive oil and lard???

I've been on SoapCalc and the numbers look OK, but not as good as a soap with coconut oil.

Has anyone made good soap without coconut oil and if so, how did it compare? Did it take longer to cure and did it last as long?

I've only ever made soap that had CO in the recipe and I feel like trying something different!! :D

Thanks in advance :D

It will be fine; but it will lack bubbly lather.
The higher the olive oil content, the longer it will need to cure.

If you want to try something different you could also try palm kernal oil or babassu.

If I add sugar to the water before the lye, will that make up for the lack of bubbles from the oils?

Olive and lard make a nice bar. Just remember that lard makes a softer soap than tallow so just give it a nice long cure. I find that adding sugar to your liquid before the lye will give your soap a bubble boost.
