Well I can hardly stand it .. made my first batch of soap for the craft show last night. I used coconut milk, GM, and some yogurt. Threw in a couple of finely ground oats and mixed a custom fragrance. It's a beautiful yellowy beige color. I just want to know how it's going to lather .. darn I'm impatient. I think I'll be able to unmold tonight, it's already pretty hard.

Hi! Oh, your soap sounds so delightful with all of my favorite 'ooh and ahh' ingredients! It would be hard for me to wait too! Just be patient because you know you have a wonderful present to unwrap. Please put up pics. :)

I just unmolded (now I have to find the digital camera) and it's grrreat!! I cut my normal little test sliver and holy cow! You weren't lying about the coconut milk! What a great bar. It turned out a pretty yellow color (because the OMH fragrance discolored a little) but I love it! I'll try and get picture up later today .. on the way to Wally World to get more OO .. tonight I'm making french lavender :)

Mmmmmm......got pics yet? You know, seeing is believing..........

You must also remember to take pics of your show set up for us to oogle!

:) Thanx guys .. I sure hope so .. I'm really nervous because there's going to be another soap maker there and since this is my first ever craft show .. you know .. the nerves are frazzled. Your opinions and all of the knowledge you've shared mean a lot and have helped me immeasurably !! :D

Beautiful soaps. I want to take a bite out of the chocolate one. :D
Good luck with your fair. When is it? I hope you do well and sell a lot of soap.

Chris

I have to ask - what technique do you use for that frosting swirly top?

I have yet to master that. Mine come out spiky and sharp when I attempt to texture the tops, not all lushious and decadent like yours.

I use wooden skewers that I get at the grocery store. I found that toothpicks create that spikiness. Use the pointy end, not the blunt end (trust me it looks stupid if you use the blunt end .. mental lapse) I just wait until it gets to a medium-heavy trace (because if you do it when the trace is too heavy they get spiky and if you do it at a light trace they fall back into the soap batter). Just pour into your mold, wait a couple minutes, grab a skewer and swirl. I then bang the mold on the counter for air bubbles and to get that icing look (you want them to sloop down a little bit).

Wooden skewers - Check!

Now I'm ready to swirl or kill vampires!

Thanks so much the excellent explanation. I am in your debt.
I had been using the back of a spoon. Awful awful awful.
