My grandmother gave me a beautiful Lenox decanter. I don't drink any wine or scotch to put in it, so I've been at a loss what to keep in it or if I should just display it empty.

I was reading online how decanters can release the scents from the liquor as sort of an "air freshener". I'm wondering if I make a mixture of my own oils if that would work as well? Or would the stopper at the top not release the same way?

I'm thinking of mixing different oils, filling the decanter with them, and leaving it on my coffee table to enhance the smell of my apartment. Has anyone done this? This is a picture of the decanter.

I personally would feel that is a little big for just a essential oil blend but I would maybe make a bath oil in it with the essential oils for fragrance, that way you could certainly leave it open to scent the room but also use it in a bath! :)

That's a pretty decent idea! I don't really care to fill up the entire decanter, just a tiny bit or halfway. I don't take baths too often, so I didn't think of doing bath oils. I just didn't know if the stopper at top would stop the fragrance from releasing or if I would have to take it off once in a while.

There's so many ideas for fragrance mixtures here and different types. I literally know nothing about this stuff, what would you recommend for bath oils? What would you put in it?
