I had a batch seize up today after I added fragrance oil. It got really gloppy as I was pouring it into the mold. Does a seizure mean a ruined batch, or could it actually be okay and set up in the mold? I know HP is an option, but I'd rather not.

Seizure does not mean a ruined batch, but your soap sounds more like it accelerated to a really thick trace instead of seizing. A true seize is when your soap becomes a solid mass in the pot (aka 'soap on a stick') and cannot even be stirred. Such soap can be saved via an emergency HP, but the fact that you were able to pour your batter into the mold, albeit gloppily, tells me that it did not reach seize proportions yet. I've had my fair share of such gloppily poured batches and they came out just fine without needing to HP.

I would just leave it alone it to do its thing and then unmold as normal.

IrishLass :)

I've had that super quick acceleration from a FO. You may find a few voids in your bars if it was too thick to fill in all the space of the mold. Unless you're selling, it will still be a good useable soap.

If you know that your fragrence is going to make the batch freeze you can make some really pretty soap using multiple colors and working fast!!! I find having 2 more hands helps. I will not get rid of a fragrence that sticks just because it accelerates. Plan for it!

Sounds like wicked fast trace.............Hope it works out I had one a while ago and oh what a horrid mess LOL big pockets of air and fragrance  such a pity as I loved the fragrance but needless to say the rest is curing in wax :D

Polo Black from Scent Works...................It is such a nice fragrance to and of course I go and check the Fragrance board AFTER I tried soaping it and found it is a speady one alright :)
